Brow Lift in San Diego, CA

Many adults develop lines and creases across the forehead that may impart a worried, angry, or exhausted look. A brow lift may be the ideal solution to refresh the brow and forehead region as well as restore a more youthful and alert expression to your face. In Southern California, Pollack Plastic Surgery, located in the Hillcrest area of San Diego, provides brow lift surgery to rejuvenate the appearance of male and female residents of La Jolla, Alpine, and neighboring communities.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift sometimes referred to as a forehead lift, surgically tightens, rejuvenates, and refreshes the area around the forehead and eyebrows. The brow lift removes sagging skin from the brow area, diminishing lines and creases between the eyebrows and deep horizontal lines that develop across the forehead.

Will health insurance cover the cost of a Brow Lift?

In cases where sagging brow tissue hoods the eyelids and prevents or impairs vision, health insurance may cover the procedure. To help manage expenses not covered by health insurance, Pollack Plastic Surgery offers CareCredit™ financing as well as flexible payment methods for all of our patients.

How can a Brow Lift enhance my appearance?

A brow lift rejuvenates and refreshes the facial appearance as follows:

  • Elevating the eyebrows to a higher position on the face, creating a more alert and youthful expression.
  • Reshaping thick, heavy eyebrows to make the eyes stand out more.
  • Lifting and tightening sagging skin in the brow area that hoods the upper eyelid and may impair vision.
  • Eliminating wrinkles, lines, and creases across the forehead.
  • Erasing deep vertical creases between the eyebrows, also known as frown or worry lines.
  • Restoring balance and harmony to eyebrows that are asymmetrical or imbalanced.
  • Rejuvenating and refreshing the appearance of the entire face by imparting a more alert and fresh expression to the eyes and upper facial region.

How do I know if a Brow Lift is right for me?

A brow lift may be right for you if you are in general good health and want to correct the appearance of sagging or heavy eyebrows that they make you appear tired, angry, or worried at all times. Brow lift surgery may be ideal for any healthy adult who wishes to improve the following conditions:

  • Sagging or drooping eyebrows with a thick, heavy appearance
  • Creases or wrinkles extending horizontally across the forehead
  • Vertical lines between the eyebrows sometimes called worry or frown lines

How is a Brow Lift performed?

The brow lift is a surgical procedure that requires the use of anesthesia. The surgery may be performed using either a traditional open method or the endoscopic method that has smaller incisions. Both procedures require an incision to gently lift the skin of the forehead, and reduce unwanted pulling of muscles downward.

Can a Brow Lift be combined with other procedures?

To achieve a total facial rejuvenation, many patients combine the brow lift with other procedures, such as blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery, to eliminate sagging skin around the eyes, or a facelift to rejuvenate and tighten the face and neck regions. Additional procedures such as liposuction may also be used to further enhance facial rejuvenation through more precise facial contouring.

What should I expect during recovery after a Brow Lift?

You should plan to have someone drive you home after your surgery and provide basic care at home while you rest for a few days after your brow lift procedure. You will have to keep your head elevated for the first two days following the surgery.

The length of the recovery period after a brow lift depends on how your surgery is performed, but in any case, it is normal to experience some swelling, numbness, and temporary soreness around the incision area. You may also notice swelling extending to the region of the eyes, nose, and cheeks, but this will naturally subside within a week or so.

In rare cases, patients may experience hair loss around the incision area, but hair growth will resume normally within a few weeks/months. Patients who undergo the endoscopic brow lift experience significantly less discomfort and typically heal faster than those who undergo the classic surgical method.

Brow Lift FAQs

Brow lifts produce permanent results, so patients can enjoy the results from a brow lift for several years. However, brow lifts do not stop the aging process. A brow lift can refresh the forehead and reverse signs of aging, but over time, these signs of aging may return as the aging process continues. Many patients find that their brow lift results last for 5 to 10 years before signs of aging return, although the exact timeline will vary from patient to patient.

The brow lift surgery is considered an elective or cosmetic treatment, and is therefore not covered by insurance. Typically, medical insurance only covers procedures that are deemed medically necessary. Patients should plan to be responsible for the full cost of their brow lift treatment.

If you want to correct sagging in the forehead region and drooping eyebrows, or creases that make you look aged, worried or tired, a brow lift may be the ideal solution.
