How can a Breast Lift improve my appearance?
Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) can produce firmer breasts that sit higher on the chest, with nipples pointing outward instead of downward, imparting a more youthful look to your entire physical appearance.
Am I a good candidate for a Breast Lift?
If your breasts are elongated, sagging, with nipples pointing downward, and you are in generally good health, you may be an excellent candidate for a breast lift.
How is a Breast Lift performed?
The breast lift procedure is highly personalized for each patient and may be performed using two to three incisions following the breasts’ natural contour around and below the areola. The skin of the breast is pulled and tightened, moving the nipple and areola to a higher position, and excess skin is trimmed away, resulting in breasts that have better shape and are positioned higher on the chest with a perkier appearance.
Can a Breast Lift be combined with Breast Augmentation?
Many patients choose to combine a breast lift with Breast Augmentation. This is an excellent combination for patients seeking to improve the shape and increase the size of their breasts while also achieving more firmness and tighter contour of the chest area. Dr. Robert Pollack will help you determine the ideal type and size of breast implants to complement your breast lift surgery, yielding a more comprehensive enhancement of your appearance.
Recovery after a Breast Lift
Plan to have someone drive you home after surgery and provide basic care for a few days while you rest and recover. Immediately after surgery, you may experience some swelling and soreness, and your chest will be wrapped in absorbent dressings and bandages. The dressings are removed surgery few days after surgery, and you may shower at this time.
After one week, you may resume light activity and office work. Full recovery may take up to three or four weeks, and you will need to wear a compressive bra during that period. Sensitivity in the nipple and areola may be reduced during this period. After the full recovery period, all bruising, swelling, and discomfort diminish naturally, and sensation in the nipple and areola return. Gradually, you may partake in your normal level of physical activity and mild exercise. Your breasts will settle into their new shape within a few months; and over several months, scars begin to fade.
Will I be able to breastfeed after a Breast Lift?
Breast lift surgery will not impede the process of breastfeeding; however, if you are planning to become pregnant in the future, it may be wise to postpone this surgery after planned childbearing since post-pregnancy effects may alter the results of breast lift surgery.
