Full, natural-looking eyelashes can now be achieved through a prescription treatment called LATISSE™. LATISSE™ is the first and only eyelash treatment approved by the FDA to help grow longer, fuller and darker eyelashes and treat hypotrichosis, a condition that includes having inadequate or not enough eyelashes.
LATISSE™ contains bimatoprost, an active ingredient that improves the appearance of your lashes and is often found in glaucoma medication. While the precise science of the treatment is not known, research suggests that the number of hairs and duration of the growth process are increased by bimatoprost.
This prescription medication is applied topically to the base of the eyelashes once a day, after makeup and contact lenses have been removed and any other skincare products have already been applied. While it does not replace mascara, LATISSE™ offers an attractive complement to help further enhance full, long and beautiful lashes.
The results of LATISSE™ are visible after 4 weeks, with full results appearing after 16 weeks. You can track the progress of your results through photographs. Side effects of LATISSE™ are rare but may include itching, redness or dryness in the eye area. You should not use LATISSE™ if you have an active eye infection or broken skin or irritated skin on the eyelid. Call Dr. Pollack today to find out if LATISSE™ is right for you.

Fraxel® Re:pair is a unique noninvasive laser therapy designed to dramatically improve skin texture and pigmentation, including the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, and sun damage. Fraxel® utilizes fractional resurfacing technology, where only a small fraction of the skin receives the laser light. The treatment delivers a series of microscopic laser spots, while simultaneously preserving areas of unaffected, healthy skin. The healthy cells in the untouched spots promote rapid healing of the entire area, resulting in faster recovery time and minimal side effects.
Fraxel® Re:pair laser treatments can be performed right in Dr. Pollack's office and, in most cases, using only topical anesthesia. After cleansing the skin, an FDA-certified blue tint is applied, followed by the anesthetic ointment. The blue tint darkens the tiny folds of the skin surface to increase contrast. This allows the robotic hand piece to map the contours of the treatment area as it glides across the skin, applying the laser treatment. The blue tint and anesthetic is washed off immediately after treatment.
A treatment typically will take approximately 20-40 minutes. Though treatment plans are flexible, clinical studies suggest that an effective treatment plan is four to six sessions spaced about five to seven days apart. Each session targets about 12-20% of the skin's surface, depending on the clinical parameters selected. Results are immediate and progressive, with optimal improvement usually visible in about two to three months and gradual improvement for up to a year.
While individual results vary, Fraxel® offers the benefits of speedy healing and no downtime. Side effects usually involve swelling and redness. Mild swelling should subside within two to three days, and redness usually fades over five to seven days. There is limited, if any, risk of infection or scarring.
New epidermal skin develops within 24 hours and requires adequate sun protection for several months after treatment. Most patients can return to routine activities immediately after treatment and can apply make-up the following day. Each session shows marked improvement in skin quality, resulting in a high level of patient satisfaction.
